Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. is principally engaged in the design, manufacture, and sale of firearms to domestic customers. Approximately 98% of the Company?s total sales, during the year ended December 31, 2009, were from the firearms segment, and approximately 2% were from investment castings. The Company?s design and manufacturing operations are located in the United States. It offers products in four industry product categories: rifles, shotguns, pistols, and revolvers. The Company?s firearms are sold through a select number of independent wholesale distributors, principally to the commercial sporting market. The Company manufactures and sells investment castings made from steel alloys for both outside customers and internal use in the firearms segment.
