Patterson-UTI Energy, Inc. (Patterson-UTI) owns and operates fleets of land-based drilling rigs in the United States. The Company?s contract drilling business operates primarily in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and western Canada. As of December 31, 2009, it had a drilling fleet that consisted of 341 marketable land-based drilling rigs. It provides pressure pumping services to oil and natural gas operators primarily in the Appalachian Basin. These services consist primarily of well stimulation and cementing for completion of new wells and remedial work on existing wells. It also owns and invests in oil and natural gas assets as a working interest owner. Its oil and natural gas interests are located primarily in Texas and New Mexico. The Company exited the drilling and completion fluids services business on January 20, 2010, and sold substantially all of the assets.

HOUSTON, July 29, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Patterson-UTI Energy, Inc. (PTEN) today reported financial results for the three and six months ended June 30, 2010. The Company reported net income of $29.5 million, or $0.19 per share, for the second quarter of 2010, compared to a net loss of $17.7 million, or a loss of $0.12 per share, for the quarter ended June 30, 2009. Revenues for the second quarter of 2010 were $307 million, compared to $140 million for the second quarter of 2009.

(KEG) generated second quarter revenue of $339.0 million, an increase of 12% compared to the first quarter 2010, and a net loss of $2.2 million, or $0.02 per fully diluted share, compared to a first quarter net loss of $7.6 million, or $0.06 per fully diluted share. Patterson-UTI Energy Announces Acquisition of Pressure Pumping and Wireline Businesses from Key Energy Services
HOUSTON, July 6, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- PATTERSON-UTI ENERGY, INC. (PTEN) today announced that it has entered into an agreement for a newly formed subsidiary to acquire pressure pumping and wireline assets from subsidiaries of Key Energy Services, Inc. (KEG) for $237.7 million in an all cash transaction. The acquisition includes inventory, but excludes other working capital items. The transaction, which is scheduled to close in September, is subject to termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.
